A Blog Dedicated to...

There are some amazing autism blogs out there. One that I read on a regular basis is Diary of a Mom. Jess has helped me understand my granddaughter in ways I may have never thought of through sharing her insights into her family's journey in Autismville.

Another is Autism in a Word. Jeneil takes us through a journey of hope and faith. She fills my heart and my soul.

I was finally able to get my daughter to read one of Jess' entries and I do believe she is hooked. She suggested I write a blog about autism from a grandparents' perspective. Duh! What does she think I have been doing all these years?! To write about autism exclusively is not something I believe I could do, though. There is no shortage of material but I am not versed enough in the things that would help others the way the other blogs do.

There is not one person who has been following all these years who doesn't know that my Isabella is my heart. She is the source of so much joy and love. We love each other unconditionally and I don't see that changing.

Bogging has taken a back seat since facebook but, once again, I will try to get back into it.

Many blessings to all in the new year. g

  1. Ooooh! Thank you! I've been looking for some more good blogs on Autism! There seem to be five million on Down syndrome, I really need the autism ones.

Hope your New Year is fantastic, Gail. Thank you SO MUCH for all of your continued support.

  2. How very often we think of the special needs person's immediate family and not the extended family. Your sweet granddaughter's life affects everyone she comes into contact with, just like we do. We may have a greater responsibility to respond with understanding to those around us, than she does. It's good to remember that Grandma's and Grandpa's have a great amount of love for their grandbabies! It's good to be reminded of that; thanks for your point-of-view.

  3. I think the posts from a grandmother's perspective would be great. I think it is something lacking in the blogosphere. I can't imagine it now since I just have 2 little ones, but being a grandparent is definitely not the same as being a parent. Anyhow, I feel a blog post coming on from that topic, so I'll stop myself. =p Thanks for stopping by our blog. Have a happy new year!

  5. Hi Gail,

I'm so pleased you have come across some helpful websites about autism. You're right there isn't a lot of information available. Jaiden has a friend Aidan who has autism, so I know the difficulties for parent's and grandparent's alike. I think writing some post's from a grandmother's point of view is a great idea.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, dear friend. My very best wishes to you and your family.

Looking forward to sharing our journeys in 2012.

    GOD BLESS!

  9. Strangely enough I very rarely blog about Autism and you know I blog about my son all the time... I continued blogging I think as a way to escape autism allowing me not to drown in real life. I just read some of Diary Of a Mom posts and she is really, really good thanks for sharing it.
